Story
How it started
DVOR Hospitality did not begin in Denver, Colorado, or even in the United States. Its story began across the ocean, in Russia.
I was born in Veliky Novgorod, one of Russia's oldest cities, with a history spanning more than a thousand years. In 2008, I moved to Saint Petersburg to study engineering at one of the city's historic universities. While I earned my degree, something unexpected happened along the way.
Saint Petersburg's restaurant scene was thriving. The city was filled with beautiful dining rooms, live music, talented chefs, and people gathering around great food. I quickly fell in love with the energy of hospitality—the way food could bring people together, create new friendships, and turn an ordinary evening into a memorable experience.
After graduation, I placed my engineering diploma on a shelf and chose a different path.
I started working in restaurants and quickly discovered that hospitality was where I belonged. The work was demanding. Long shifts, burns, cuts, and endless hours became part of everyday life. Yet every morning I was excited to return and do it all over again. There was something deeply rewarding about working alongside passionate people and creating experiences that guests would remember.
That passion eventually took me far beyond Saint Petersburg. It led me across Europe and Asia and ultimately brought me to the United States.
My journey continued in New York City, one of the world's most dynamic food destinations. What made me stay was not the skyline or the idea of the American dream. It was the people. The diversity, the cultures, the traditions, and the opportunity to be surrounded by individuals from every corner of the world made me feel at home.
Years of working in hospitality, traveling, and learning from different cultures shaped the way I think about food and service. They taught me that great hospitality is not about luxury or complexity. It is about bringing people together, sharing honest food, and creating meaningful moments around the table.
Today, DVOR Hospitality is the next chapter of that journey.
